The IFS estimates that the fishery will develop as soon as the lake is filled and that existing trout will gain weight quickly before the food sources and natural recruitment level out the population and growth rates. A viable fishery is expected for the 2008 season if predicted construction and filling timeframes are achieved. Additional bonuses for anglers will be the improved riparian flows in the Meander River below the dam and the predicted minimal drawdowns in the lake itself.
